Women of Courage Volunteer Activity Featured in the Texas First Lady Texanthropy Spotlight

In July, Women of Courage members came together for their first-ever volunteer opportunity, held at the Texas Governor’s Mansion. Thanks to those who participated, 75 blankets embroidered with the phrase "Dream Big", along with hand-written notes will be shared with children around Texas who receive a My Safe Space room makeover.

My Safe Space: A Room Makeover Project, allows CACs to transform the immediate personal spaces of children impacted by abuse into spaces of hope and healing. In the first two years, the My Safe Space initiative has helped to makeover 144 rooms, impacting and forever changing the lives of 295 Texas children. We cannot wait to ship out the next round of blankets, a gift from the Women of Courage symbolizing hope, healing, and restoration.

Our gracious host and Honorary Woman of Courage, Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott spotlighted the event on her Texanthropy website. You can view the full story here.
