Children’s Advocacy Centers of Texas Announces Fiscal Year 2019 Board Officers & New Board Members

The Children’s Advocacy Centers of Texas, Inc. (CACTX) is excited to begin FY 2019 with a new slate of board executive officers. James Kimbell (Houston- Clark Hill Strasburger) will serve as the incoming CACTX President, joined by President-Elect Gina DeBottis Metts (Houston- Retired, Special Prosecution Unit), Vice President Revlynn Lawson (Austin- Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP), Secretary Billy Millwee (Dripping Springs- Sellers Dorsey), and Treasurer Blaine Brunson (Austin- Morgan Stanley).

Together, this officer team works to promote the CACTX mission "to restore the lives of abused children by supporting local children's advocacy centers in partnership with local communities and agencies investigating and prosecuting child abuse."

New FY 2019 board members include children advocacy center (CAC) executive directors Kim Abernethy (San Antonio- ChildSafe) and Denise Merriman (Center- Shelby County CAC); business and community leaders Meredith Delk (Austin- Magellan Health) and Laura Squiers (Lufkin- T.L.L. Temple Foundation); with returning board members Jane Donovan (Lakeway- Child Abuse Prevention Advocate) and Michael Keener (Houston- KP Energy).

Almost 58,000 courageous children come through the doors of a Texas CAC each year. While we’re proud of the work we have accomplished together to increase the number of children served each year, there are still thousands more children in Texas that need CAC services. We are confident that with the leadership of the CACTX board and the freedom to dream big for Texas CACs and the children they serve, our CAC network will continue working toward our ultimate shared goal of reaching EVERY child, providing EVERY service, and making EVERY effort.
