Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 6th annual Women of Courage Luncheon on Saturday, March 2, 2019. We were honored to recognize Senator Joan Huffman with the first-ever The Honorable Florence Shapiro Woman of Courage Award. We thank her for her leadership and support of the children’s advocacy center network in Texas. Together, our Women of Courage will continue to work to DREAM BIG for Texas children.
Children’s Advocacy Centers of Texas, Inc. (CACTX) will host the biennial Partners in Courage Dinner and Awards Ceremony on January 29, 2019 in conjunction with CACTX Capitol Day. Texas Governor Greg Abbott and First Lady Cecilia Abbott will be honored with the 2019 Partners in Courage Award, an honor that is bestowed upon state leaders who courageously champion children’s advocacy centers (CAC) and Texas children in the fight against child abuse. First Lady Cecilia Abbott will be accepting the award on their behalf. This upcoming event will mark the first year that a couple has been recognized with the Partners in Courage Award. CACTX honors the Abbotts as “partners in courage” who represent commitment at the state level that is equivalent to the profound courage that child victims of abuse possess when they walk through the doors of a CAC.
The North Carolina, Florida, and Georgia areas are still grappling with the effects of Hurricanes Florence and Michael. Our hearts go out to the members of our national CAC family and their clients and families who have been affected by the storms.
The nation’s largest network of children’s advocacy centers (CACs) closed out state fiscal year (FY) 2018 with its largest ever annual increase in child victims served by Texas CACs.
The Children’s Advocacy Centers of Texas, Inc. (CACTX) is excited to begin FY 2019 with a new slate of board executive officers.
