The Fannin County Courthouse was surrounded Wednesday by a group working to raise awareness about child abuse. Stand Up for Kids is an event organized by the Fannin County Children's Center and Child Welfare Board.
Participants handed out flyers with tips on spotting and preventing child abuse, and offering links to resources that help abused children. Organizers say the first step to stopping child abuse is getting involved.
"There are lots of ways to get involved. We have the Children's Center and CASA and the advocacy center. We always need volunteers, we always need donations, so get involved and be part of the solution," says Sandy Barber of the Fannin County Children's Center.
