Privacy and Confidentiality Issues in Sharing Data
The National Resource Center for Child Welfare Data and Technology
This webinar will discuss challenges posed by the increased technological ability to share information for the coordination of services while protecting the privacy rights of those involved in the child welfare system.
We will discuss:
- FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and the importance of sharing school data to improve educational outcomes for children in care.
- SAMHSA's 42 C.F.R. part 2 - tracking participants' progress can be quite challenging because of the significant protections of treatment data.
- HIPAA: What are the requirements and why do they differ by State? What are the concerns?
- Implementing privacy policies - what you need to know. Some key privacy solutions developed by Global Privacy & Information Quality Working Group, how can you get help?
